Mrs Mary Luke – 2006
Mary has been a supporter and friend of the Landsker Singers since the inception of the choir. A lifelong friend of Wally Walters, she has accompanied the choir both at rehearsals and performances as well performing as part of the string orchestra at the annual carol concert. Mary has been a constant in the life of the choir, always there when needed and always willing to share her experience and support.
Mr David Pedley – 2007
A respected and gifted musician, David was performance accompanist to the Landsker Singers for many years. His contribution to the life of the choir is greatly appreciated and the singers have been honoured to have had the opportunity to perform his original work on many occasions. In particular, David’s composition ‘Pwsi o Alawon Gwerin’ (A Posy of Welsh Folk Songs) features on the first Landsker Singers CD ‘Sands of Time’.
Miss Pauline Metcalfe – 2009 (Liverpool)
Pauline worked alongside Wally during his professional career in Liverpool. Her detailed knowledge of his compositions is without compare and she has supported the Landsker Singers greatly in sourcing music and arrangements from his archive. Through her dedication the choir is able to continue singing the Wally Walters repertoire we are so very proud of.
Mrs Janet Evans – 2010
Janet’s connection with the Landsker Singers goes back to even before the current choir was formed as she was accompanist during the 1980s to the Shirley Williams Junior Singers, many of whom are now singers with the choir. Her support of the Landsker Singers has been unfailing throughout and for a number of years she coached the children’s choir which performed at the annual carol concert. She remains a valued friend to the choir, always there to offer and share her advice and support.
Mrs Patricia Swales Barker – 2011
The choral life of the Landsker Singers has been greatly enhanced by the wealth of musical knowledge offered by Pat both during her time in business as Swales Music Centre, Haverfordwest and also as a valued guest conductor both for rehearsals and performances. She is always willing to offer her guidance and assistance whenever called upon and the sharing of her time, knowledge and music collection with the choir is greatly appreciated.
Rev Dr David Owen – 2012
David has composed the words for a number of pieces included the Landsker Singers’ repertoire, most notably ‘Great is the story – The Nativity’ which was premiered in December 2012. He also worked extensively in collaboration with the choir’s co-founder, the late Edmund ‘Wally’ Walters. He has been a loyal supporter of the Landsker Singers for many years and his contribution to the life of the choir is greatly appreciated. He often fulfils the role of compere for choral performances and was President of the Landsker Singers from 2004 – 2012.
